Matariki is represented by a cluster of seven stars that can be seen from 18th June this year and symbolizes the traditional Māori New Year. It is a time for harvesting, collecting food, sharing stories, waiata and celebrating whānau past, present and new life. For more information about Matariki visit… http://www.matarikievents.co.nz/
This year Russell Street School will be celebrating Matariki with each class presenting a variety of Māori learning: games and waiata in the hall and having lunch with their buddy class. All parents and friends of the school are welcome to come along, and join us.
When: Week 9, Thursday 18th June 2015, starting at 12pm in the hall.
Children will be having lunch with their buddy class on Thursday 18th June 2015 and may be asked to bring a healthy plate to share.
We look forward to a fantastic day and hope to see you all there.
